PRIORITY HABITATS ACCORDING TO THE SPA/BIO PROTOCOL (BARCELONA CONVENTION) PRESENT IN THE CAPO CARBONARA MARINE PROTECTED AREA

Abstract
An update on the presence of habitats in the Capo Carbonara Marine Protected Area
was carried out on the basis of existing data, including grey literature and analysis of cartography,
and field investigations. Results highlighted the presence of 42 habitats; 30 of these are considered
priority according to the SPA/BIO protocol (Barcelona Convention). Such a high number of habitats of
conservation interest makes the Capo Carbonara MPA an eligible candidate to be part of the SPAMI
list.
